Nosebleeds are characterized by ~blood~ coming from the nostrils after blowing, sneezing, picking, illness or an injury. The basic treatment includes sitting up and keeping the head forward; squeezing or pinching the |nose| closed between the bridge and the nostril for about five to ten minutes; and if the |bleeding| doesn't stop, applying a cold compress and reapplying pressure. If this does not stop the |bleeding|, seek medical attention immediately. If nosebleeds are a frequent occurrence, they increase in intensity, etc., seek medical advice.
